I should have been writing...

Instead, I took my daughters to a Hillary Clinton rally in Wilmington. Whatever you think of her or her politics, it is a great moment in history for women. I wanted my daughters to see with their own eyes that it can be done.

A little more matriarchy is what the world needs, and I know it. Period. Paragraph. - Dorothy Thompson

Writing cannot compare to moments like this - especially when you get to share them with your daughters. And I agree, while the likelihood of me voting for Mrs. Clinton is slim, it would have been impressive and inspiring to be at her rally.

I think Thoreau had it correct when he said, "How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live." Life experience can only make one a better writer with more to draw from within. And in the end writing is what we leave behind, it is life that we take with us.

It was a great night - one they will always remember.

I wish I had been there!! (I'm grumbling at you-know-who about it right now.)
